Follow the journey of Olivia as she prepares for her time with the Zululand Rhino Orphanage in July 2024.
“Hi, my name is Olivia from London, England. I have always loved South African wildlife since I first managed to visit the country with my parents. I am now about to realise a dream of mine – to help the amazing efforts of wildlife conservation in South Africa. One crucially important wildlife project is the Zululand Rhino Orphanage in KwaZulu Natal. Between now and July 2024 I will be fundraising for this incredibly inspiring project in the hope that my financial contributions, as well as my time in-person with the small team, will help in a small way. The rhino orphanage now has 10 rhino orphans (as of November 2023) – this is more rhinos than they have ever had at one time. Believe it or not, what they do is not cheap. Rescuing, providing veterinary care, rehabilitating and then ultimately releasing these rhinos into protected reserves is extremely expensive. Although it is tragic that such an orphanage is needed, at least the help is available. The orphans are rescued soon after it is discovered that their mothers have been ruthlessly murdered by poachers for their rhino horn. The orphans are then transferred to the orphanage where they undergo veterinary care and are then slowly cared for until they feel confident and healthy enough to join the rest of the orphans. Orphans then have to spend a minimum of 3 years at the orphanage until they can be released.
If you are able to support my fundraiser with any size donation, it will mean a lot to me and Zululand Rhino Orphanage. Thank you!” ~ Olivia
