Week 16…moving inland for ShowMe Waterberg

Day 107

Louis Trichardt to Mokopane

Spent the morning in Louis Trichard talking to some locals and looking around the pretty town before heading to Mokopane, where we arrived late afternoon. We stayed at Rustic Rest Guesthouse, a very sweet little place just outside of the town itself.

Day 108

Mokopane

A very boring day of admin and catching up with the pile of work. Good to get it done however and a weight lifted off our shoulders once we had caught up with some stuff. Waited in the post office for an hour to send off some forms and get Maddy a phone card.

Day 109

Mokopane to Mookgopong

Made our way to Mookgopong, not far from Mokopane, and to Thula Meetse, a beautiful lodge set high in the hills. The sounds of the waterfall and streams are always audible here and there is a wonderful backdrop of mountains and waterfalls. Set off on a walk to the mountain along pretty winding roads and lush greenery. Had dinner on our little balcony looking at the stars.

Day 110

Mookgopong

After a delicious breakfast, we headed to Villagama, another beautiful lodge not far from Thula Meetse. Went the long way around and it ended up taking us an hour! We were shown our room, which was more like a gorgeous apartment with a wide-screen TV, 3 bedrooms and a fully-kitted kitchen. Rog had a nice chat with the owners and Maddy stayed with the 3 adorable dogs who didn’t leave us all night.

Day 111

Mookgopong to Bela Bela

Headed to Bela Bela which means ‘boiling boiling’, a town that has changed its name 4 times over the years. Met up with Henk from ShowMe who took us to like at a sweet little place called Peet Se Padsdal. We then were shown around the town, a lovely place with a real family feel to it. That night we slept at Die Stoep which was lovely and had a sponsored dinner at Wimpy.

Day 112

Bela Bela to Modimolle

The next morning we drove back slightly to the neighbouring town of Modimolle and had a good day wandering around town, doing some filming and taking some pictures before heading back to our guesthouse for some typing-up action.

Modimolle

In the morning we went to visit the Forever Resort in town, an impressive place with swimming pools, wave machines and even zip lining. We then moved location, this time to Klein Paradys, a caravan site with a few fully equipped self-catered little lodges. We had one of these and it was really nice. We had a relaxing Sunday afternoon eating lunch and watching a movie after what felt like a very busy and full-on week with a lot of moving around.
