In January 2015, we visited Ntombenhle Mtambo, from the Mpophomeni Conservation Group near Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Our expectations were not unusual: visit a nice vegetable garden and hear the story behind it. What we encountered instead was an organic work of art and its passionate creator. She had transformed a rubbish dump in a rural township into a lush community garden in a few short months.
