Wild Coast Beach Cottage is situated at Mpande Bay along the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape in South Africa, in the area formally known as the Transkei. There are long stretches of unspoilt beaches, sweeping bays, lagoons, rocky headlines, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. It is a perfect destination for a family holiday. The cottage can comfortably sleep up to 20 guests in the main house and bungalows.
A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
The Wild Coast Beach Cottage is situated at Mpande Bay, Wild Coast on the Eastern Coast of South Africa. The cottage is situated very close to the beach which is perfect for walks, fishing, bird watching, swimming, and even cycling. It is one of only 3 cottages at Mpande Bay.
The Wild Coast Beach Cottage can accommodate up to 20 people.
The cottage is rented out as a whole entity. The chalets are not rented out individually. The minimum rate is R 2 640 per day for 1-6 people. For more than 6 people, an additional R 260 per adult, and R 140 per child will apply. The minimum stay is 2 nights. Price subject to change.
The main area features a lounge (with fridge and dart board), a dining/games room with a table tennis table and a kitchen with 3 fridges, a chest freezer, an ice-making machine and cooking facilities featuring a large gas stove, electric ovens, toasted sandwich maker, microwave, XXL air fryer, BBQ, gas and charcoal braais. There is a large washing machine and also a tumble dryer (both operated by the staff). The expansive deck features an undercover dining area with all the braaiing facilities and implements. The deck also features a round table that can comfortably seat at least 12 people
- The main building also features 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (shower, basin & toilet), and an enclosed verandah with 4 beds.
- The outside area features 2 en-suite wooden chalets, a rondavel, 2 outside bathrooms (shower, basin and toilet) and a spacious wooden deck, half of which is undercover. All linen and towels are provided.
Ample parking on-site. 4×4 vehicles are preferred or vehicles with diff locks are also acceptable.
All beds, linen including pillows, blankets, sheets and towels (bath only) are provided.
The cottage offers a daily domestic cleaning service (excluded in your accommodation rate). Please contact us to enquire about this service.

Most villages north of the Kei River are made up of fishermen’s cottages and the occasional backpacker accommodation. Port St. Johns and Coffee Bay are close by, making the Wild Coast Beach Cottage ideal for a family getaway. The Wild Coast is well known for hiking trails that pass through rural villages. There are also shipwrecks along the rugged coastline that will stir the imagination. A famous nearby landmark is “The Gates” at Port St. Johns.
You can visit throughout the year, the winter months also being blessed with fine weather and warm seas. The Sardine Run attracts visitors and causes a frenzy amongst the dolphins and predatory fish as it moves slowly north up the coast. There are great lookout points for whale and dolphin watching with Southern Right and Humpback whales being seen regularly. Offering excellent fishing grounds, this area makes a firm favourite for anglers and fishermen. Other Wild Coast activities include fly fishing, mountain biking, surfing, canoeing, horse riding, and bird watching.
Cows visit the beaches even though there is no grass or drinking water in order to sleep or just relax. These animals are easily approached and make great photographs. The Transkei is very unique and is loved by everyone who visits.
