Proud, classically styled White River property filled with Antique and Heritage pieces

Pelenechi Manor is a proud, classically styled property with a beautiful garden, situated on a quiet country road amongst agricultural small holdings, just 1 km outside the village of White River. Throughout the property, the focus is on uncompromised quality, not only in the styling and furnishings, but also in the comfort and service. The courtyard offers secure parking to guests and their visitors. All the doors in the property are salvaged Oregon Pine. The window panes in the public areas and suites are handmade lead glass, all walkways are inlaid with handmade tiles from a well-know local artist, Antjie Newton. All the furniture are important heritage pieces and registered antiques.

Lounge

The Lounge is comfortable and a great place to curl up with a book, to play a few notes on the piano or to admire the family’s collection of vintage dolls. A 200-year old riempiesbank (bench) takes centre stage in this room. Grab a soft drink at the vending machine and continue to admire more memorabilia and a prized display cupboard which once belonged to Percy Fitzpatric, legendary creator of “Jock of the Bushveld”.

Dining Room

Situated next to the conference room, it serves as the preferred area for conference delegates to take their meals. This venue can also be used for a breakaway room if the conference needs to divide into groups. The dining room is also used to serve meals to guests, if the deck is not suitable. It has a great fire place and has a registered antique piece, a 100-year old buffet with original silver handles and was once resident to the Willowmore Hotel in the Cape.

Deck

This is where breakfast is served most days, as most days are pleasantly warm in the Lowveld. It overlooks the duck pond and garden. It has a conventional braai / fire pit as well as a large gas braai / barbeque. This is also a great space for small celebrations.

Lapa

A thatched roofed area, this one is different because it is an indoor space. A comfortable, cozy space to relax in or to enjoy a glass of great South African wine in front of the fire place.

Conference Room

The Conference room is situated at the entrance with enough safe parking in the courtyard. It can host 25 – 50 delegates, depending on the configuration. All the public spaces are available to the delegates and all meals can be catered for. We can also accommodate a few small meeting groups in the dining room, the deck, the lapa and the chapel.

Garden

The garden is in one word “magnificent”. It has numerous walkways, boardwalks, large trees and a large lawn. To add to the magic is an abundant birdlife, including the resident ducks and swan. Enjoy watching them from any one of the quiet seating areas. The garden is the perfect venue for weddings, celebration s and children’s parties. The numerous perfect corners, large trees and soft natural light, make it an event photographer’s dream.

Chapel

The circular chapel takes centre stage in the garden at the end of the large lawn. This can facilitate a large number of guests seated on the lawn, while the wedding party takes part in the ceremony in the open chapel. The many walkways in and around the garden can be incorporated as an “isle” for weddings. The chapel itself can also be used as a venue for an intimate get-together, even a meeting. Use it as a meditation space, an exercise space or as part of a fashion show – let your garden party imagination go wild!

Parking

Safe parking area with remote controlled gate and access control by intercom from the owner’s home / office. Parking available to all guests.

Swimming Pool

Fully enclosed, heated swimming pool is available to resident guests during summer months. Ladies can join an Aqua-Aerobics class most of the mornings – please enquire with host.

Antiques and Heritage Pieces

The property has a large number of important antiques and heritage pieces on display. Many are South Africa, and some are European. It also displays a large collection of “ball and claw” furniture and family heirlooms. The antiques include:
