It is possible to walk to the lake and this takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. We are overlooking the sand forest, largest lake in the Kosi Bay Nature Reserve. We are not ‘on the beach’ but only a short 20-minute drive from Kosi Bay Mouth.

Activities

There are hippo paths and other paths that the guest can explore in the surrounding area. If you are lucky you may spot some small antelope including gray duiker, red duiker and bush buck.

Other animals that are common in our area are the Red Bellied Coast Squirrels, Monitor Lizards, Vervet and Samango monkeys. At different times in the season many butterfly species are seen with some that are endemic to our area. Vegetation includes The umdoni or water berry tree Maurla Wild Mango and many Monkey orange trees with their large green globes creating a surreal landscape. The bird life is varied and interesting with the occasional call of the African Fish Eagle in the background you know you are in Africa.
