The non-profit organisation HeavenlyPromise48 was founded by community worker Lana O’Neill in Vredendal, South Africa in 2005 (registration no. 2005/014530/08). Its aim is to give shelter to abused women off all religious and ethnic backgrounds, to protect them from violence and support them when dealing with authorities. In addition to that Lana and her team engage in preventative measures to fight gender-based violence and rape.

Safe house for abused women and children
In April 2015 HeavenlyPromise48 successfully applied for a tender to run a safe house for abused women and their children in Bredasdorp – the first and so far only safe house in the Cape Agulhas region of South Africa. In August 2015 the safe house was officially opened.
