When did I first realise I wanted to be a vet?

Ever since my first high school science lesson I have always loved the world and medicine. Animals have always been a huge part of my life since I was little with my dog, and it just seemed an incredible job!

What is my motivation to become a vet?

Helping animals is such a major motivator obviously, but also helping people because pets and wildlife are such a important part of a lot of people’s lives.

My dream is to become a wildlife vet, travelling the world to help charities fight the dangers that threaten our incredible animals.

My biggest tip if you want to study to become a vet is…

Make sure you have a lot of different experience with different species, but also have time for yourself. Have interests other than school and vet work, because having down time for yourself is so important in a busy job!

The hardest thing about being a vet is…

The sad moment when you can’t help the animal anymore and have to make difficult decisions. I always try to focus on the positives and that they will not be suffering anymore.

What is my favourite animal?

My favourite is the leopard because of their beautiful rosette spots!

My favourite animal related story is…

When I was volunteering in Africa when I was 17, we were putting out camera traps in a National Park. A car pulled up to tell us that a leopard was about 2 minutes behind us, stalking us! We had no idea!

My favourite animal photo I have taken is…

Who doesn’t love a giraffe!
