83 days to go until our foundation EXPEDITION 2012!
This week was all about UCT’s annual GCI Green Week – this involved a daily stall on their Jameson Plaza at the University of Cape Town middle campus and this was followed by the Green Week Film Festival each night at the Labia Theatre On Orange in Cape Town’s CBD. All in all a successful week for both the GCI student body and The EXPEDITION Project. We made some important contacts with the City of Cape Town’s Climate Smart division as well as the MSC – Marine Sustainability Council, Trash Back, Aqua d’UCT and of course UCT students and relevant staff. Thank you to Caroline, Dane, Kate and Janelle for putting on a beneficial week.

Roger met up with Chris from Shell and although the company has had its share of bad press in South Africa in particular it has spent approximately R50 million on sustainable projects in 2010 alone. We will be continuing discussions in order to see if a partnership is both mutually beneficial and morally in line with The EXPEDITION Projects ethos. We aren’t closed to collaboration of this kind if it matches our aims for energy efficiency and renewables.
On Thursday we met with Raymond and Hannah from Aqua d’UCT based at UCT. This has the potential for a perfect match-up for our WATER Project. For starters it looks like we could be doing water testing at each of our 200 towns in 2012 – this is a great start for our WATER Project and a valuable collaboration for Aqua d’UCT.
Finally, we had the opportunity of screening our 2011 documentary trailer at the Green Week Festival at the Labia on Orange Theatre. Although it is only a two-minute clip, it is a tremendous beginning to what we are certain will be an awesome documentary in terms of South African awareness.
That’s it for this week, but…
Until next week!

Cape Town, South Africa
